CAIRO – Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea discussed with her Libyan and Jordanian counterparts the latest developments as regards joint trade, investment and industrial areas between Egypt and the two brotherly countries.

The talks were held on the sidelines of the 109th meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League that concluded its activities in Cairo Thursday.

In a statement on Friday, the Trade and Industry Ministry said Gamea discussed with Minister of Economy and Trade of the Libyan Government of National Unity Mohamed al-Hawij means of fostering bilateral trade and economic relations.

They agreed to start preparing technical meetings for experts to review trade and industry issues as part of preparations for the coming session of the Egyptian-Libyan joint committee, Gamea said.

Trade exchange rates between the two countries have been remarkably improved as Libya is one of the largest markets receiving the Egyptian exports in 2021, with exports hitting $938 million, Gamea added.

Meanwhile, the Libyan minister asserted his country’s keenness to boost trade and investment relations with Egypt.

Meanwhile, Gamea’s meeting with Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Al Shamali took up the latest developments in joint economic cooperation at the bilateral level and the trilateral level which engages Egypt, Jordan and Iraq.

The volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached about $580 million in 2021, according to Gamea.

The Jordanian minister said his country is keen to develop joint economic cooperation with Egypt.
