European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Tuesday the continuing Iran war is having “enormous consequences” for the global economy and that it is time to bring the conflict to an end.
In comments carried by Al-Qahera News, Kallas said Europe “does not understand the recent US moves in the Middle East,” and stressed the need for diplomatic efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.
Her remarks came after US President Donald Trump said several countries would take part in a coalition to secure navigation in the strategic waterway, without naming the participants.
Trump said he was withholding the names to avoid exposing those states to possible attacks amid rising regional tensions.
