Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptians Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati warned, in a phone conversation with his Russian Counterpart Sergey Lavrov, of the serious repercussions of the ongoing cycle of violence and the widening scope of conflicts in the Middle East.

He pointed to the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to de-escalate the situation, noting that continued military escalation poses a threat to both regional and international peace and security.

He also emphasised that priority must be given to de-escalation, diplomacy, and dialogue to prevent wider confrontations.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the call is part of ongoing bilateral consultations aimed at addressing the rapidly evolving regional situation and promoting efforts to reduce tensions.

In this respect, Minister Abdel-Aati reiterated the need for coordinated political efforts and diplomatic solutions to resolve crises, emphasising that dialogue remains the most effective path to achieving sustainable peace.

The two ministers also discussed a draft resolution currently tabled at the United Nations Security Council addressing the situation in the region.

In addition, they exchanged views on developments in the Ukrainian crisis, with Minister Abdel-Aati reaffirming Egypt’s consistent position advocating for continued political efforts to achieve peaceful settlements through dialogue, thereby safeguarding regional and global security.

Both ministers agreed on the importance of ongoing consultation and coordination between their countries to support de-escalation efforts and enhance regional and international security and stability.
