Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati, has underscored Egypt’s firm support for advancing joint Arab economic action and strengthening the role of specialised Arab institutions in promoting regional economic integration.

His remarks came during a meeting on Tuesday with Mr Mohamed El-Ni, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity.

At the outset of the meeting, Minister Abdel-Aati congratulated Mr El-Ni on his reappointment for a second term beginning next June, expressing Egypt’s appreciation for the council’s role as a key mechanism for enhancing Arab economic coـoperation.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting the institutions of the League of Arab States and advancing its economic integration objectives.

Abdel-Aati highlighted the importance of the specialised Arab federations operating under the council’s umbrella, noting that they serve as vital platforms bringing together Arab expertise to exchange experiences and modernise management and marketing practices.

He stressed that activating the role of these federations contributes to improving the efficiency of Arab production and providing member states’ economies with competitive advantages in global markets.

The meeting also reviewed the council’s priorities for the coming period, particularly accelerating economic integration projects, facilitating intra-Arab trade and the movement of people and capital, and developing joint initiatives.

Concluding his remarks, Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s support, as the host country, for the council’s efforts to advance economic co-operation in the interest of Arab peoples.
