Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk discussed with Hanan Magdy, Governor of New Valley, ways to boost joint efforts and support comprehensive agricultural development in the governorate.
The meeting aligns with the political leadership’s directives to expand cultivated land and make full use of the region’s unique natural resources.
The two officials reviewed key initiatives, including the preparation of a comprehensive agricultural development map for New Valley in coordination with research centres and relevant authorities.
Discussions focused on expanding the cultivation of essential crops to support national food security, increase productivity, and ensure sustainable agriculture.
The meeting also covered improving digital services for farmers to ensure timely access to high-quality seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides.
Efforts to combat agricultural pests and provide technical guidance for higher-quality crops were also emphasised.
Minister Farouk highlighted the New Valley Governorate as a hub for Egypt’s agricultural growth, underlining the importance of using all technical and research resources to support ongoing projects and remove obstacles for farmers and investors.
For her part, Magdy praised the strong co-operation with the Agriculture Ministry, noting that the governorate is steadily implementing land reclamation projects, creating job opportunities for youth, and prioritising modern irrigation methods while preserving natural resources.
