He said that the remarkable increase of Egypt’s natural gas exports during the past period has positive effects on the national economy and helps limit the impacts of rise prices of oil worldwide.

Egypt has made great achievements through supplying houses with natural gas in the past eight years, exceeding all achievements made over 34 years since this sector started in Egypt, the minister said.

He explained that 8 million housing units have been supplied with natural gas in the past eight years to serve 57 million citizens, while 5.5 housing units were provided with the natural gas throughout 34 years.

The minister added that the first phase of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative aims to supply 1,487 villages with natural gas to serve 4 million housing units.
