Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli began a tour in Suez on Saturday to follow up on LNG regasification procedures at the petroleum port of SUMED Port and inspect Ataka wheat silo.

Madbouli said the visit comes in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to maintain safe strategic reserves of petroleum products to secure gas supplies needed for the electricity sector and various productive sectors.

He underlined the importance of providing the necessary financing to complete energy projects, noting that energy security is a key pillar of national security. He also highlighted the need to maintain and strengthen the country’s strategic reserves of essential commodities.

During the tour, Madbouli was accompanied at SUMED port by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, while Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk joined him at the Ataka wheat silo, in the presence of Suez Governor Hany Rashad.

The prime minister said the tour aims to ensure readiness to secure gas supplies for the electricity sector and strengthen the strategic stock of basic commodities, particularly in light of ongoing regional tensions and their economic repercussions, especially on petroleum product prices.
