Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk met with representatives of major Dutch companies specializing in various agricultural sectors to discuss enhancing the access of Egyptian agricultural exports to European markets.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the minister’s s participation in Fruit Logistica in Berlin.

During the discussions, the Dutch companies highlighted their role as logistics hubs for re-exporting Egyptian produce to Central and Eastern European countries, asserting Egypt’s position as a strategic partner for food security and a key supplier of high-quality agricultural commodities to Europe.

Farouk voiced interest in companies producing seeds, stressing Egypt’s vision to enhance cooperation in producing high-quality seeds domestically to ensure sustainability and food security.

He also highlighted the importance of deepening Egyptian-Dutch collaboration in water management and climate change adaptation, areas in which the Netherlands has globally recognized expertise.

The minister said there are promising opportunities for Dutch companies, some of which already operate in the Egyptian market and invited them to visit Cairo to present detailed proposals for future projects, particularly in digital agricultural training and advisory services.
