Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisito his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun.
Madbouli reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering stance on Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty, and the unity of its national institutions. The Prime Minister emphasized Egypt’s readiness to support Lebanon in addressing its current challenges and restoring full state authority across its entire territory.
Madbouli’s visit to Beirut, leading a high-level delegation, serves as a “message of political support” during a delicate period for the Lebanese state.
The discussions centered on the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. Madbouli called for an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, a total cessation of sovereignty violations to empower the Lebanese army, and a full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Beyond security, Egypt expressed a strong desire to participate in Lebanon’s recovery. Madbouli announced that Egyptian firms are prepared to lead reconstruction efforts, particularly in critical sectors such as infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and telecommunications. He further reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s electricity and gas requirements.
The visit builds on the momentum of the 10thsession of the Egyptian-Lebanese Joint Higher Committee held in Cairo last month, where 15 memoranda of understanding were signed. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the “distinguished level” of bilateral relations and pledged to expand trade exchange and development mechanisms to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
President Aoun expressed his profound gratitude for President El Sisi’s consistent concern for Lebanese security, noting that Beirut “counts on Egypt’s support” as a cornerstone for regional peace and progress.
