Dr Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirmed that the partnership with the United Kingdom is one of the most important strategic partnerships, given the leading expertise of British universities and research institutions.

He noted the Ministry’s commitment to expanding academic and research cooperation and supporting joint programs that contribute to developing the higher education system, building human capacities, and linking research outputs to development needs and the labor market.

This came during a meeting between the Minister of Higher Education and Mark Bryson Richardson, the British Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation between the two sides, with a focus on expanding international branch campuses of universities and strengthening cooperation in technological education.

Dr. Ashour explained that the Ministry places special emphasis on developing technological education, enhancing innovation and entrepreneurship, and benefiting from international expertise in this field, in line with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and contributing to the achievement of Egypt Vision 2030.

For his part, the British Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirming his country’s commitment to supporting academic and research partnerships, enhancing the exchange of expertise, and supporting efforts to develop technological education and international university branch campuses in Egypt.

The meeting addressed the follow-up on existing cooperation with the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, within the framework of educational partnerships between Egypt and the UK, in addition to discussing mechanisms to support joint academic programs and student and academic exchange programs, in a manner that achieves mutual benefit and enhances the quality of the educational process.

The meeting also addressed ways to develop cooperation in technological and applied education, link educational programs to labor market needs, and support innovation and entrepreneurship, in line with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, contributing to the preparation of qualified cadres capable of competing regionally and internationally.

The participants reviewed the ongoing preparations for the educational conference scheduled to be held from January 20 to 22, organized by the British Council, with the aim of enhancing dialogue among universities and academic and research institutions, exchanging expertise in the development of higher education, applied scientific research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation in education.

The conference also seeks to build new partnerships between educational institutions in Egypt and the United Kingdom and launch initiatives that support national plans to advance education and scientific research.

Opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation were also discussed in light of the anticipated visit of the British Prime Minister, in a way that supports the expansion of partnership areas in the coming phase.
