Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark said participation in elections is a national duty, stressing that every citizen’s vote represents genuine contribution to building the future and supporting the country’s development journey.
People’s keenness on casting their ballots strengthens values of citizenship and right to choose their representatives in the upcoming House of Representatives, said the pontiff.
Pope Tawadros made the remarks as he was casting his vote Monday morning in the 2025 House of Representatives election at the polling station of Martyr Imtiaz Kamel School in Abbasiya district, Cairo Governorate.
The vicinity of the polling station witnessed strict organizational and security measures, with police forces deployed to facilitate entry and exit, along with clearly designated pathways for the elderly and persons with special needs.
The supervising committee assisted the pope in completing the voting process, in line with the smooth organization that marked the electoral process inside the school since the start of the day.
