CAIRO – Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said that sustainable human development begins with investing in people’s health, stressing that primary healthcare is the foundation for building human capital and achieving national development goals.
The minister made the remarks at a high-level session titled “Strengthening Primary Health Care; an Imperative for Achievement of Universal Health Coverage” held during the Global Congress on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC’25).
Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the state’s commitment to expanding the Universal Health Insurance System to ensure fair and efficient access to healthcare.
He noted that Egypt has over 5,400 primary healthcare units nationwide, with six governorates already covered under the new health insurance system, which has improved service quality and citizen engagement.
