Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Ashraf Sobhi has issued congratulations for two significant achievements by Egyptian national teams on the international stage, highlighting the country’s growing presence in global sports.

The Minister celebrated the outstanding performance of the Artistic Gymnastics Team at the Mediterranean Junior Championships held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The Egyptian delegation delivered a superb result, with the Men’s Junior Artistic Gymnastics Team securing first place and the gold medal.
This victory was complemented by the Women’s Junior Artistic Gymnastics Team earning third place and the bronze medal.

Sobhi extended his congratulations to the Egyptian Gymnastics Federation, led by Dr Ihab Amin, and praised the players for their “distinguished performance,” noting that it “reflects the development of Egyptian gymnastics.”
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the national teams to ensure continued success and to “raise Egypt’s flag high in international forums.”
He also commended the Federation’s technical and administrative staff for nurturing a promising generation of champions.

In a separate commendation, the Minister congratulated the Egyptian Weightlifting Federation, headed by Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud, following a successful outing at the 2025 World Weightlifting Championships in Norway.

The spotlight was on national team player Abdel Rahman Younis, who secured two medals in the 79 kg category.
Younis claimed a silver medal in the snatch competition, lifting
162 kg, and followed it up with a bronze medal in the total, achieving a lift of
360 kg.
The Minister lauded Younis’s “fighting spirit and determination,” particularly in the fierce competition for the gold medal in the snatch.

Sobhi praised Younis as a “promising weightlifter” and stressed that these consecutive international victories across different sports demonstrate Egypt’s “determination and resolve to move forward… toward the right path befitting Egypt’s stature and sporting history,” under the unwavering support of the political leadership.
The Egyptian weightlifting team’s participation in the World Championships in Norway is scheduled to continue until October 10.

These achievements across gymnastics and weightlifting underscore a period of notable international success for Egyptian sports, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports vowing ongoing support for its athletes.
