CAIRO – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli issued a decree establishing a high committee for the development of Egyptian media, tasked with preparing a comprehensive roadmap for media reform in Egypt.
The roadmap will define clear objectives, assess the current media landscape, identify key challenges and assign responsibilities to relevant entities and individuals for effective implementation.
Madbouli’s decree follows recommendations by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, in coordination with the heads of both the National Media Authority and the National Press Authority.
The committee was tasked with delivering a comprehensive report within two months from the date of the decree.
The report will include the committee’s findings, recommendations, and implementation mechanisms, to be submitted by the committee chair to the prime minister, who will in turn present it to the president.
The decree also authorizes the formation of subcommittees, each chaired by a member of the main committee and supported by a suitable number of members.
These subcommittees may include external experts as needed. Each subcommittee is required to submit its report within one month from the date of its formation.
