President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Park Beom Kye, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of South Korea. The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel Aaty, and the South Korean Ambassador to Cairo attended the meeting.

The Korean envoy delivered a letter to President Sisi from President of South Korea Lee Jae-Myung on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In the letter, the Korean President voiced his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance towardSeoul’s efforts to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula, adding that he looked forward to meeting President Sisi at the earliest opportunity, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy, said.

President Sisi, for his part, conveyed congratulations to the Korean President on his election in June 2025, voicing hopes for welcoming him in Cairo soon, as part of the efforts to enhance bilateral co-operation and develop relations between the two countries across various fields.

President Sisi valued the tangible progress in the Egyptian-Korean relations at all levels, particularly over recent years, which has cemented South Korea’s role as an effective economic partner for Egypt, El-Shennawy added.

Sisi also lauded South Korea’s development expertise over past decades, which has resulted in the country’s remarkable progress. He also highlighted the importance of the Korean investments in Egypt, and affirmed Cairo’s keenness on further strengthening and expanding the economic partnership with South Korea.

This, he said, will build on the successes achieved in existing areas of cooperation by encouraging more Korean companies to explore promising investment opportunities in Egypt and to benefit from the country’s stability, growing competitive advantages, and free trade agreements with Arab and African countries, Spokesman El-Shennawy said.

Meanwhile, Sisi’s meeting with the South Korean Presidential envoy also touched on regional developments, as the Egyptian leader reiterated Cairo’s steadfast positionregarding the war in  Gaza.

Sisi urged the countries that have not yet recognised the State of Palestine to expedite the step, given its profound impact on advancing the two-state solution as the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region, El-Shennawy noted.
