CAIRO – Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Co-operation Rania al-Mashat on Sunday discussed with World Bank (WB) Group Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer
Anshula Kant ways of strengthening co-operation and development partnerships.

This came during a meeting between Mashat and WB delegation at the Ministry of Planning headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

During the meeting, Mashat underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing its strategic partnership with the World Bank Group to support economic and social development priorities. This includes pushing forward with financial and structural reforms, increasing private sector participation, and expanding investments geared toward the green transition, within the framework of Egypt’s vision and national priorities.

She highlighted the government’s launch of the “National Narrative for Economic Development” explaining that it provides a comprehensive framework that integrates Vision 2030 with the government’s work program, taking into account regional and international developments.

The government is working to implement an economic model within this Narrative that focuses on higher-productivity sectors and the real economy, with the goal of increasing the Egyptian economy’s self-reliance and enhancing its capacity to achieve sustained economic growth, the minister said.

Mashat added that the launch of the National Narrative for Economic Development represents an advanced stage in a developmental path initiated over a decade ago, where the state pumped huge investments into infrastructure, including the development of road networks, energy, ports, and smart transport, with a view to creating a favorable environment for economic activity, raising productivity, and attracting investments.
