“Peace is Egypt’s strategic choice to ensure safe future of region’s people”

Trump voices appreciation for his good relations with Sisi

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering commitment to peace as a strategic and enduring choice — one that ensures a stable and secure future for all the peoples of the region. In light of ongoing regional turmoil, the president emphasised that conflict serves no side and only deepens the suffering of nations.

He reiterated Egypt’s historic responsibility, grounded in its regional role, to preserve and consolidate peace, particularly in the context of the war in Gaza.

The president’s statements came during a meeting he called on Thursday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli. The meeting was attended by ministers of defence and military production, and the interior, as well as several senior officials from relevant state institutions.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the prime minister reviewed during the meeting the outcomes of his participation, on behalf of the President, in the opening of the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, President Sisi welcomed the initiative proposed by US President Donald Trump to end hostilities in Gaza, saying that he looked forward to its implementation as soon as possible. He also underlined the importance of ramping up coordination with the international community to accelerate the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

He also reiterated Egypt’s firm and categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands or to annex any part of the West Bank.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouli conveyed the greetings of US President Donald Trump, who met with him on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The prime minister participated on behalf of President Sisi in a number of key events, including a special meeting convened by President Trump that brought together Arab and Muslim leaders to discuss the situation in Gaza and post-war reconstruction plans.

During that meeting, President Trump expressed his appreciation for the good relationship he shares with President Sisi and the respect he has for him and his efforts in the region. He also praised the strong and constructive relationship between Egypt and the United States, as well as Egypt’s stabilising role in the region, said Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy.

He noted that Prime Minister Madbouli provided a comprehensive overview of his participation in the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and his attendance at the “Two-State Solution” conference held at the UN headquarters.

In his remarks during the conference, the prime minister underscored Egypt’s long-standing position on the centrality of the Palestinian cause. He reiterated that Egypt remains fully committed to the principles of the Camp David Accords, which continue to stand as a model for peaceful resolution where political will exists.

He further noted that Egypt’s address to the conference emphasised that a just and lasting solution to the conflict can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Prime Minister Madbouli also highlighted the historic significance of the recent recognition of the Palestinian state by a number of major powers, describing it as a turning point that has generated substantial international momentum.

He noted that the conference saw broad consensus rejecting Israeli practices in the occupied territories, including ongoing military aggression, attempts at forced displacement, and efforts to alter the facts on the ground.

Regarding the Gaza meeting convened by President Trump, the Prime Minister unveiled that the US President had made clear his administration’s rejection of the continued war in Gaza.

President Trump expressed determination to see the conflict brought to an immediate end and outlined a clear plan for cessation of hostilities, coupled with a reconstruction strategy that guarantees the right of Gaza’s population to remain in their homeland, said the spokesman.

He added that Prime Minister Madbouli also briefed the president on his bilateral engagements in New York with a number of world leaders and senior officials.

These discussions focused on enhancing co-operation across multiple sectors and advancing Egypt’s international partnerships.
