Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production General Abdul-Maguid Saqr attended yesterday the main phase of the Egyptian-US military exercise codenamed “Bright Star 2025”.

The drill was also attended by Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, the Commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM) Admiral Brad Cooper, Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis, along with senior Egyptian military commanders, delegations from participating countries, military attachés, students from military colleges and academies, and media representatives.

The final phase featured a live-fire tactical exercise involving various weapon systems and participating forces. Multi-purpose fighter jets and armed anti-tank helicopters engaged and destroyed hostile targets, while artillery units carried out precise strikes against designated objectives. Mechanised and armoured units advanced with the support of anti-tank guided missiles and air defence systems to sustain the offensive and neutralise enemy positions.

The exercise demonstrated close coordination between all combat formations, high maneuverability, and effective use of terrain to achieve mission objectives on schedule.

Activities concluded with a symbolic “friendship jump” by paratroopers carrying the flags of participating nations.

At the close of the exercise, General Saqr conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and welcomed the participation of friendly nations.

He praised the outstanding performance of the forces, reflecting their high combat readiness and capability in carrying out joint missions effectively.

He also underscored the importance of the exercise in strengthening military co-operation.

On the sidelines of the exercise, General Saqr met with US Central Command Commander General Brad Cooper and his accompanying delegation.

The talks covered issues of mutual interest, regional developments, and ways to further enhance military co-operation between the two armed forces in the coming period.
