Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production General Abdel Meguid Saqr attended a ceremony honouring male and female athletes from the Armed Forces’ sports institutions for their achievements in global championships during the past sports season.
The event was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, senior military commanders, heads of sports federations, and members of the media.
General Saqr conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to the honoured athletes, stating: “These victories remain a source of pride and admiration for all Egyptians”.
Head of the Armed Forces’ Sports Authority Major General Mohamed Azazy Al-Assal praised the unwavering support of the Armed Forces in nurturing generations of champions across multiple disciplines, using the latest scientific methods to secure top rankings in global competitions.
The minister of sports thanked the Armed Forces for their continued support of Egypt’s athletes and the broader sports ecosystem.
“The Armed Forces is a constant source of national pride. They have played a leading role in driving the development of sports in Egypt,” Sobhy said.
