BISHKEK/MOSCOW- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed Sunday openness to genuine efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, Sputnik reported.

In a press conference following talks with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Jeenbek Kulubaev, in Kyrgyzstan, the Russian foreign minister said, “We are open to honest work, but we are not prepared for the deceitful methods some European leaders are trying to push us into.”

“Among international issues, we paid special attention to the situation in the Near and Middle East, the Palestinian issue and the situation in Iran. We expressed our gratitude to our friends for their balanced and objective position regarding what is happening in the context of efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine,” Lavrov added.

For his part, the Kyrgyz foreign minister said, Kyrgyzstan expects the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Collective Security Council meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), which will be held in autumn.

Kyrgyzstan and Russia will hold a series of joint events to mark the 25th anniversary of the Declaration of Eternal Friendship between the two countries, Kulubaev added.

“Trade and economic cooperation, which continues to grow and expand year by year, occupies a central place in our bilateral relations. We are steadily approaching the target of five billion US dollars in annual trade volume, a goal set by our heads of state,” he said.

The Kyrgyz minister pointed out that Bishkek and Moscow see mutual interest among business people in both countries to work together in the fields of energy, industry, transport, logistics, light industry, agriculture, and high technology.
