Following the Israeli military attacks on Iran, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, held phone discussions on Friday with several Arab foreign ministers.

Abdel-Aati held talks with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation and Vice-President of the State of Palestine, Hussein al-Sheikh.

The talks were held to assess the repercussions of the unacceptable Israeli escalation against Iran. This unjustified attack was condemned for its severe impact on regional security and stability, and for the dangerous possibility of broadening the conflict, thereby undermining the region’s peace and the well-being of its populations.

Foreign Minister Abdel-Aati also held separate phone calls with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

The discussions focused on the escalating situation in the region following Israel’s military strikes on multiple sites inside Iranian territory earlier today.

During both calls, the ministers exchanged views on the dangerous implications of Israel’s unjustified and irresponsible escalation, emphasising its potential threat to regional security and stability.

In his conversation with the Iranian foreign minister, Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection and condemnation of any violation of national sovereignty or territorial integrity.

He stressed the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and prevent the region from sliding into broader chaos and conflict.

Abdel-Aati’s call with his Qatari counterpart also addressed the ongoing efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitate the release of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid amid the worsening conditions in the Strip.
