Under patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel- Ghaffar, announced on Thursday the launch of“5Seconds”– Egypt’s first-of-its-kind interactive educational app for children, as part of the presidential initiative “A new Beginning to Build the Egyptian Citizen.

The announcement marks a milestone in the country’s efforts to invest in early childhood development and positive education.

The 5Seconds app is offered free of charge, with the aim of instilling positive societal values, strengthen emotional intelligence, and build essential life skills through an innovative, drama-based interactive experience. Children are placed in real-life-inspired scenarios where they make decisions that affect how the story unfolds.

This format encourages critical thinking, decision-making, and personal reflection, all within an engaging and age-appropriate digital environment.

The launch comes as part of the broader vision of the “Bedaya” (Beginning) initiative, which seeks to build a conscious, well-rounded generation from early childhood by using modern educational tools tailored to the way today’s youth think and learn.

The application currently includes 42 short films, performed by students from Egyptian schools, and draws from everyday situations children face. Through interactive storytelling, the child is not a passive viewer but becomes a key decision-maker, directly shaping the narrative and learning from the outcomes of their choices. The app uses a “choose-your-ending” structure to reinforce the impact of thoughtful decision-making.

“This app empowers children to make conscious decisions through an enjoyable learning experience,” said Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Human Development Ministerial Group.

Director Sandra Nashaat noted that the goal is to “blend art and technology” to teach values “in a way that appeals to the new generation.”

The launch of “5Seconds” supports the broader goals of the “Bedaya” initiative to uplift youth and children through comprehensive programs in education, health, and culture — aiming to improve quality of life and build a better future by starting with the development of the Egyptian individual.
