CAIRO – Minister of Health Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Chris Bonnett Project Director for General Electric Healthcare Africa and several company representatives discussed ways to strengthen the strategic partnership in the healthcare sector.
The officials also tackled supporting local manufacturing plans, technology transfer, and the localization of expertise in Egypt.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly currently being held in Geneva, Switzerland.
In a statement, the spokesman of the Health Ministry pointed out that the meeting reviewed the production of the first locally made ultrasound machine by July 2025, with plans to expand manufacturing to include other devices.
The discussions also covered the potential for local production of additional medical equipment, including X-ray machines, ECG devices, ventilators, and other related technologies.
Meanwhile, the meeting tackled ways to enhance cooperation in the development of healthcare infrastructure, particularly in hospitals, health centers, and mobile healthcare facilities.
The meeting also addressed improving the efficiency of healthcare personnel through continuous training and development, supporting scientific research and innovation in medical fields, and implementing sustainable healthcare solutions.
