The judicial committee overseeing the Journalists’ Syndicate elections announced on Friday the victory of Khaled el-Balshy for the position of syndicate president.
The head of the judicial committee, Counselor Basem el-Tayeb, said that Balshy received 3,346 votes (55%), while his rival Abdel-Mohsen Salama received 2,562 votes.
He added that a total of 6,051 journalists participated in the elections, out of 10,132 eligible voters.
