As part of the final preparations for the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), slated for July 3, the museum will be temporarily closed to visitors on June 15 through July 5.
During this period, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will carry out various organisational and logistical activities inside the museum to ensure a seamless and memorable inauguration.
Chief Executive Officer of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, Ahmed Ghoneim, said that the museum will reopen to the public following the official opening ceremony, with regular operating hours in place.
Visitors will then be able to enjoy the full touristic experience that the museum proudly offers, he added.
GEM has been conducting a soft opening for select areas of the facility since October 16 of last year.
In February, the museum authority also introduced new official visiting hours.
GEM welcomes guests year-round from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, and additionally offers extended evening hours on Saturdays and Wednesdays, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
