The Egyptian Embassy in Beijing hosted on Wednesday via videoconference a ceremony for signing a co-operation agreement between Egypt’s VACSERA and China’s Sinovac Biotech.

The Foreign Ministry on its Facebook account said that the deal was signed by CEO of Sinovac Biotech Weidong Yin and VACSERA Chief Heba Wali in the presence of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar who is also the acting minister of health and population.

Under the deal, the two countries would cooperate to establish a fully-automatic vaccine-storing complex at VACSERA factories in Giza’s 6th of October City.

The complex can accommodate 150 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, said Egyptian Ambassador in Beijing Mohamed El Badry.

The acting health minister thanked the Chinese government and Sinovac for their support of Egypt in the fight against the pandemic.

Abdel Ghaffar discussed with Sinovac’s CEO the possibility of building a sophisticated laboratory for virology research at VACSERA.
