Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said the new draft budget for 2025/2026 fiscal year, that was approved by the cabinet and referred to the parliament for endorsement, included more financial allocations for the health and education sectors as part of the State keenness to improve services offered to citizens.

In a statement on Sunday, the minister said the draft budget includes more initiatives targeting citizens in a bid to improve their living conditions and secure their basic needs.

He noted that health and education are the main pillars of achieving sustainable and comprehensive development and that’s why they are on the top of the government priorities.

The draft budget includes 151.1 billion pounds for treatment at State expense and 53.2 billion pounds for medicines, medical supplies and maintenance of medical devices, the minister said.

The budget outlines a total revenue of approximately EGP 3.1 trillion, with expenditures reaching EGP 4.6 trillion, reflecting a rise of 19% and 1 8%, respectively.
