The Information Centre of the National Food Safety Authority issued its 9th weekly report for 2025 during the period from March 1 to 7.

The General Administration of Factories Control carried out 58 supervisory missions on food factories in all governorates last week.

Examination, inspection, and accreditation visits by the Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centres reached 52; 8 establishments were registered; and 3011 export permits were issued to agricultural crops.

Potatoes have topped the list of exported Egyptian vegetables by 50,000 tons, followed by frozen vegetables with a total of 10,000 tons, beans with a total of 7000 tons, and citrus fruits topping the list of exported fruits last week with a total of 64,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 11,000 tons and other fruits at 5000 tons.

Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Somalia, and Russia represented the largest importers of Egyptian exports over the past week out of a total of 184 importing countries.

1000 health certificates have been issued as part of NFSA’s responsibility to issue export certificates.

The Imported Food Control Section said messages released under reservation (provisional release) reached 874, and the number of food importers with an import license was 104.

The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 45 products and 9 companies, examined 330 new products, and issued 8 free sale certificates.

Complaints Management carried out 379 inspection missions to ensure the safety of food in several governorates.

Control of Commercial Chains, to ensure the requirements of food safety, registered 581 food establishments, and 362 establishments met the requirements during last week.

The Warehouse Control Department implemented 27 monitoring missions in several governorates.

Management of Licenses and Control of Tourist Facilities conducted 52 visits, including periodic surveillance and inspection of licenses all over Egypt.

Mobile food units carried out 9 inspections on food units in various governorates.

The General Department of Slaughterhouses conducted 13 inspection visits to poultry and meat slaughterhouses, in addition to issuing 20 permissions to natural envelope factories.

This came as part of the efforts of the directives of Dr Tarek el-Houby, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), to tighten the control over food establishments to ensure the safety of the food products offered and to preserve the health of consumers in various governorates.
