Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Sunday followed up efforts aiming to boost investments and foreign trade.

During the meeting, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El Khatib reviewed the outcome of a number of foreign tours he conducted last week as part of the ministry’s efforts to boost foreign trade and promote investment opportunities in Egypt.

He offered the prime minister an account of his visit to the UAE, heading | the Egyptian delegation to the meetings of the 4thsession of the Egyptian-UAE Joint Economic Committee.

The committee discussions featured the two sides agreeing to support and strengthen economic co-operation relations in areas including trade and investment, industry, innovation and technology, renewable energy, agriculture, food security and food safety, transportation and services: logistics and infrastructure, aviation, land and sea transportation.

They also agreed to exchange expertise in establishing and managing industrial parks, as well as encouraging the private sector in both countries to enter into industrial partnerships in a number of industrial sectors of common interest.

During the UAE visit, Minister El Khatib also held several important meetings, including a meeting with representatives of Emirati business circles and companies to review the country’s economic policies and investment opportunities in the Egyptian market.

He also met with representatives of 50 companies of different nationalities, and reviewed the key features of investment in Egypt and the state’s plan to boost the it and enhance the role of the private sector.

El Khatib met with officials of Etisalat International, and reviewed the company’s current investments and its future expansions in the Egyptian market, in addition to a meeting with officials of Etisalat International.

In the meantime, EL Khatib also reviewed with Premier Madbouli the outcome of his visit to Morocco, during which he met with the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic relations and maximize bilateral trade between the two nations.

The two ministers also agreed to organise a business forum and B2B economic partnership in certain sectors.

The forum, slated for next month in Cairo, will seek to encourage establishing trade partnerships and business networks between the private sector communities in both countries, in addition to activating the business council and preparing for the convening of the joint trade committee.
