CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir attended on Tuesday the opening of a new production line at the Coca-Cola HBC factory in Sadat city, some 94 km northwest of Cairo, with total investments amounting to dlrs 31.5 million.

The Sadat plant started operating in 2014. The plant manages the production of Coca‑Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes and the distribution of all product categories.The plant is responsible for the supply of PET Polyethylene Terephthalate (referring to plastic bottles) and cans for Cairo, Delta, Upper Egypt, Alexandria, North Coast, Delta region and other areas as per demand.During the opening ceremony of the new production line, which is considered the fastest canning line in the Middle East, processing up to 120,000 cans per hour, the minister expressed his keenness to be present at the opening of the new production line at the Coca-Cola HBC factory in Sadat city.He added as per President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, the National Strategy for Industry (2024-2030) has been outlined.The strategy aims at localizing industry, deepening local manufacturing, turning Egypt into a regional industrial center, shifting towards a green economy, and increasing the industrial sector’s contribution to the gross national product (GNP) and the volume of exports, Wazir added.The Coca-Cola factory in Sadat city is considered one of the successful industrial experiments in the Egyptian market, Wazir said, noting that it was built on an area of 82,000 m2, and with a production capacity of 720 million liters annually, investments amounting to dlrs 31.5 million and a local component of up to 95%.The factory allocates most of its production to the local market, he said, adding it works on getting into the Arab countries’ markets in the coming period.It also provides 300 job openings, he further noted.
