Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), Dr Tareq el-Houby, discussed ways of mutual co-operation during a meeting with Financial Adviser and Deputy Head of the Economic Mission of the French Embassy in Cairo, Mr Nicola Beck.
El-Houby reviewed NFSA’s supervisory role to ensure the access of healthy and safe food by examining food messages exported at various ports as well as ways to withdraw samples, thereby enhancing confidence in the Egyptian product and increasing its competitiveness in international markets.
Also, he referred to the new mechanism for issuing validity certificates for exported food products as well as the procedure of release for goods under reservation received since the beginning of 2025.
Both sides highlighted the prospects of co-operation in the areas of supporting the effectiveness of the regulatory processes, exchanging information and experience, especially in the field of scientific research related to food safety, and the development of the NFSA’s human resources.
NFSA seeks continuous coordination and communication with the French side to facilitate actions and overcome all obstacles to promoting trade, el-Houby said.
Beck lauded NFSA’s role in overcoming any obstacles to Egypt’s food exports access to global markets.
