AUCKLAND – Top-seeded Madison Keys recorded four aces in a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Lucia Bronzetti of Italy to advance to the second round of the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand.

Third-seeded Amanda Anisimova was not as fortunate. Alycia Parks fired nine aces and overcame 11 double faults to rally to a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Anisimova in a match that lasted just over 2 hours.

Also, former US Open champion Emma Raducanu (back) of Great Britain and second-seeded Elise Mertens (ankle) of Belgium withdrew from the tournament due to their respective injuries.

Raducanu was replaced by Japan’s Mai Hontama, who dropped a 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 decision to Robin Montgomery. Mertens was replaced by Brit Jordie Burrage, who notched a 6-3, 6-3 win over New Zealand wild card Vivian Yang.

Brisbane International

Top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus breezed to a 6-4, 6-0 win over Renata Zarazua of Mexico in the second round of the tournament in Australia.

While Sabalenka was victorious, fourth-seeded Paola Badosa of Spain, fifth-seeded Diana Shnaider, sixth-seeded Anna Kalinskaya and seventh-seeded Jelena Ostapenko were all defeated in their matches.

Elina Avanesyan of Armenia secured a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 win over Badosa and Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina recorded a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win over Shnaider. Ashlyn Krueger enjoyed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Kalinskaya, while Czech Marie Bouzkova collected a 7-6 (0), 6-4 win over Ostapenko.

Eighth-seeded Mirra Andreeva posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over fellow Russian Anna Blinkova, while Ons Jabeur of Tunisia seized a 6-3, 6-2 win over 14th-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia.
