The Egyptian military establishment is becoming synonymous with sports excellence, fostering an environment that consistently produces world-class athletes.

This unwavering support translated into a cascade of triumphs in 2024, with military athletes achieving remarkable successes across various international and African championships.

Fencing prowess

The Egyptian fencing team etched their names in history by securing the gold medal at the World Fencing Cup in the team category.

This resounding victory was further amplified by Mohamed Mahmoud Yassin’s bronze medal in the individual category, solidifying Egypt’s global dominance in this sport.

Weightlifting and Wrestling domination

In the African Weightlifting Championship, Egyptian military athletes demonstrated exceptional strength, amassing an impressive haul of 23 medals, including a remarkable 20 gold.

This dominance was further underscored by individual accolades awarded to Karim Ibrahim Abu Kahla and Sara Samir. The momentum continued in wrestling, with the Egyptian team capturing seven gold medals at the African Championship for adults.

Individual games triumphs

A contingent of 45 male and female athletes, representing the Tala’ea El-Geish Club and other sports institutions within the military establishment, achieved a remarkable feat, securing a total of 54 medals within the Egyptian delegation at various individual games championships.

This impressive tally included 37 gold medals, cementing Egypt’s leadership position in these sports.

Equestrian and bodybuilding excellence

Egypt’s equestrian prowess was on full display, with the team claiming first place in the show jumping team competitions and securing a second medal in the individual category.

The Armed Forces bodybuilding team also excelled at the African Championship, adding seven gold, silver, and bronze medals to their impressive repertoire.

A model of success

Mohamed Tarek further elevated Egypt’s swimming achievements at the World Finswimming Championship in Serbia, securing three distinct medals and adding another chapter to the nation’s aquatic success story.

Paris Olympics brilliance

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games witnessed continued Egyptian excellence. Mohamed el-Sayed Sami secured the bronze medal in fencing, while Sara Samir brought home the silver in weightlifting, showcasing the exceptional caliber of Egyptian athletes on the global stage.

Testament to military support

These resounding successes serve as a testament to the vital role played by the military establishment in nurturing and supporting Egyptian sports.

By providing training facilities and organising high-level sports tournaments, the military has created an environment that fosters athletic development and propels Egyptian athletes to the pinnacle of international competition.
