CAIRO — The sixth week of the 2024-2025 Egyptian Premier League witnessed decisive victories for Al-Ahly and Pyramids FC, while Zamalek and Al-Masry of Port Said dropped crucial points.

At Alexandria’s Borg el-Arab Stadium, defending champions Al-Ahly secured a 2-0 victory over Al-Masry of Port Said, with goals from Moroccan left-back Yahia Attiyat Allah and playmaker Mohaned Magdy ‘Afsha.’

Al-Ahly currently leads the league table with 11 points, tied with Al-Masry, Zamalek, and Pyramids FC, but with a game in hand. Al-Masry occupies fifth place on goal difference.

The match saw Attiyat Allah open the scoring in the 39th minute with a direct free kick. Al-Masry increased their attacking pressure, but Al-Ahly’s defense held strong, maintaining a 1-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, both teams exchanged attacks, but Al-Masry could not convert key chances. In the final moments of stoppage time, ‘Afsha’ sealed the win with a composed finish after receiving a pass from Emam Ashour, ensuring the crucial victory for Al-Ahly.

At Cairo International Stadium, Ceramica Cleopatra staged an impressive comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over NBE Club, earning three valuable points.

NBE Club initially took the lead in the 42nd minute through a goal by striker Osama Faisal. However, Ceramica turned the match around in the second half with goals from center-back Ragab Nabil and forward Marwan Otaka, scored in the 76th and 78th minutes, respectively.

This victory increased Ceramica Cleopatra total to 11 points, placing them fourth in the standings, while NBE Club remained on 5 points, dropping to 16th position.

Petrojet clinched a dramatic 1-0 victory over El-Gouna with a last-minute goal at Cairo’s Petrosport Stadium.

Midfielder Ahmed Reda secured the decisive strike in the 96th minute, sealing a vital win for his team.

The result lifted Petrojet to eighth place in the league standings with 8 points, earned from two wins, two draws, and two losses. Meanwhile, El-Gouna sits in 13th place with 5 points, having recorded one win, three draws, and two losses.

At Alexandria Stadium, Ghazl el-Mahalla triumphed 4-2 over Smouha in a thrilling match marked by penalties and drama.

The game, officiated by Mohamed Ma’rouf, featured three penalties for El-Mahalla and one for Smouha, with El-Mahalla’s captain, Khaled el-Akhmimi, was sent off in the final moments.

The goals for Ghazl el-Mahalla came from Tunisian forward Mohamed Ali Ben Hamouda, who converted two penalties in the 53rd and 88th minutes, striker Mohamed Hamdi Zaki, who scored another penalty in the 56th minute, and right-back Abdelrahim Amoory, who netted in the 31st minute.

Smouha responded with goals from striker Hassan Hossam, who scored in the 20th minute, and midfielder Mahmoud Saber, who added a second in the 74th minute.

The victory propelled Ghazl el-Mahalla to 10th place in the standings with 8 points, while Smouha stayed in 15th place with 5 points.

At the Air Defense Stadium, Pyramids FC dominated Pharco FC with a 3-0 victory.

Moroccan right-back Mohamed Chibi scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute, followed by Nigerian winger Sodiq Awujoola’s strike in the 53rd minute and Congolese forward Fiston Mayele’s goal in the 68th minute.

The win lifted Pyramids FC to third place with 11 points, while Pharco FC remained in 11th with 7 points.

At Ismailia Stadium, Ismaili and Haras el-Hodood played to a 2-2 draw, sharing the points in an exciting encounter.

Haras el-Hodood led 2-0 with goals from forward Mohamed Mamdouh and an own goal by Ismaili’s defender Mohamed Bayoumi.

Ismaili mounted a comeback in the second half, with winger Ali Malwani pulling one back in the 53rd minute. Striker Marwan Hamdy then equalized for the hosts in the 64th minute, converting a penalty.

Ismaili stayed in 12th place with 6 points, while Haras El-Hodood remained in last place with 3 points.

Al-Ittihad of Alexandria and Modern Sport played out a goalless 0-0 draw in their fixture at Alexandria Stadium.

With the draw, Al-Ittihad maintained 7th place in the standings with nine points, while Modern Future occupied 17th place with just four points.

At the Military Academy Stadium, Zamalek played to a 2-2 draw against Talae el-Geish, marking another setback for the team under the helm of Swiss coach Christian Gross.

In their previous match in the fifth round, Zamalek also settled for a 1-1 draw against Ceramica Cleopatra, extending their recent run of draws.

The match saw El-Geish Nigerian forward Godwin Chika opened the scoring in the 34th minute. Zamalek’s midfielder Mohamed Shehata equalized in the 42nd minute, followed by striker Hossam Ashraf giving Zamalek the lead in the dying moments of the first-half.

However, Chika struck again in the 55th minute, securing a valuable point for El-Geish and leaving Zamalek frustrated with another missed opportunity to claim all three points.

The match between ZED FC and Enppi at Cairo International Stadium ended in a goalless draw, with both teams unable to find the back of the net.

As a result, ZED FC moved up to 6th place with 9 points, while Enppi climbed to 14th place with 5 points.
