Egypt’s Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hani Sewilam, discussed with President of the Saudi Water Authority (SWA) Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim and CEO of the Saudi National Center for Meteorology Ayman bin Salem Ghulam enhancing cooperation in the field of cloud seeding and benefiting from ongoing Saudi research in the domain.
During their meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16) in Riyadh Tuesday, the Egyptian and Saudi officials explored cooperation in desalination for agriculture and maximizing the use of membranes in desalination plants.
They also reviewed successful Egyptian and Saudi experiences in the sustainable management of groundwater.
Additionally, the discussions covered collaboration in constructing protective dams against flood risks and harvesting rainwater, particularly leveraging Egypt’s distinguished expertise in this field.
Cooperation was also discussed in recharging groundwater reservoirs with water harvested through protective dams.
