Rosatom, the global leader in nuclear energy and advanced technologies, proudly announces the commencement of its second Science Festival Week in Egypt.

Taking place from December 8 to 12, 2024, across Cairo, Alamein and Alexandria, the festival aims to inspire young minds, promote scientific literacy, and showcase the transformative potential of nuclear science and technology.

The festival takes place in the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in its Cairo and Alamein campuses, in Ain Shams University, and in Alexandria University.

That’s not all, school students from the Egypt Language School and European Schools of Alexandria, are also lucky to host the activities of the 2nd Sciences Festival Week.

“At its heart, the Science Festival is a celebration of human ingenuity and the boundless possibilities of scientific discovery,” said Murad Aslanov, Director of Rosatom Office in Egypt. “By uniting brilliant minds, sparking curiosity, and inspiring the next generation of leaders, we are sowing the seeds of progress that will not only advance nuclear technology but also transform industries and improve lives.

We are confident that among the attendees are visionaries who will shape the future of energy, medicine, and excel in various scientific sectors, added Aslanov.”

Regarding the launch of the Science Festival at the Arab Academy in the Smart Village and El Alamein branches, Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, stated: “We are pleased to host the Science Festival Week today, which is one of the prominent events in knowledge exchange and enhancing scientific awareness, as the festival constitutes a wonderful platform to enhance the interaction of participants, which contributes to enhancing the culture of innovation.”Abdel Ghaffar” added that the Academy pays great attention to scientific communication and spreading the culture of science, technology and innovation, noting that hosting such events comes within the framework of the Academy’s vision aimed at providing an interactive educational environment that inspires new generations to research and explore.

The Science Festival, part of Rosatom’s global initiative to promote education and innovation, has been successfully implemented in other nations developing nuclear industries, including India, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. In Egypt, it represents a significant opportunity to build awareness of nuclear science, foster curiosity, and empower the next generation of innovators.

The Week will feature distinct activities tailored to different audiences.

Sessions held at universities, are designed to engage students with a technical background and foster professional aspirations.

These sessions include in-depth discussions on global trends in nuclear energy, the role of low-carbon technologies, and the scientific breakthroughs shaping the energy landscape.

Career guidance seminars will introduce students to opportunities for advanced studies in Russia and careers in nuclear and clean energy industries. Additionally, screenings of Oliver Stone’s acclaimed documentary “Nuclear Now” will provide a thought-provoking exploration of nuclear energy’s role for the environment and in sustainable development.

Meanwhile, the activities in schools, are geared toward younger audiences, with a focus on making science engaging and accessible all in a playful environment.

These activities include interactive workshops, such as robotics showcases, DIY science experiments and a “Nuclear Quest” activity to introduce school students to the fun basics of nuclear science.
