Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), MrWalid Gamal El-Din, outlined the zone’s strategy for localising green fuel production and its associated industries during his participation in a panel discussion themed “Global Energy Partnerships: Between Reality and Aspirations.” The discussion was part of the fifth edition of the global summit and exhibition “Hydrogen Dialogue 2024,” held in Nuremberg, Germany.

In his address, Mr Gamal El-Din highlighted SCZone’s remarkable achievements in the green fuel sector, underscoring its pioneering role in launching the first green hydrogen project during COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh two years ago.

Since then, SCZone has committed to comprehensive support for establishing green fuel production and its complementary industries. He also emphasised the promotion of investment opportunities in related fields, such as solar panels, wind turbines, electrolyzers, and desalination membranes.

Additionally, SCZone has made significant advancements in providing logistics services dependent on green fuel, including bunkering services now available through its ports on both the Mediterranean and Red Seas.

MrGamal El-Din reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to activating framework agreements with leading international companies specialising in green hydrogen production and applications. To this end, SCZone has allocated strategic areas within its industrial zones in Ain Sokhna and East Port Said to support this promising sector, which serves as a cornerstone for the transition to a green economy, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
