In a significant diplomatic development, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, met with Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abu Al-Gheit, to convey a letter from Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan. This letter formally announced Şen’s appointment as the Permanent Observer of the Türkiye to the Arab League.

During this meeting, Ambassador Şen emphasised the importance of enhancing Türkiye’s relations with the Arab League, describing it as a “common home” for Arab nations.

He articulated his country’s commitment to revitalising co-operation through existing mechanisms, focusing on key areas such as peace, stability, and development.

“The time has come for us to work collaboratively, prioritising activities that promote the welfare of both Turkish and Arab peoples,” Ambassador Şen remarked.

His statement underscored Türkiye’d strong support for the unity and integrity of Arab nations, signalling a desire to foster mutual development.

The Ambassador also addressed pressing regional issues, particularly the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He expressed solidarity with the Arab League, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the 1967 borders.

“We stand side by side with our oppressed brothers in Gaza, where brutality continues,” he stated.
