Seven new clinical departments have been established at the Suez Medical Complex, an affiliate of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA), in the Suez, one of the governorates included in the first phase of the Universal Health Insurance Project.

The announcement was made by Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) Ahmed el-Sobky, who doubles as General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project.

The new clinical sections cover surgeries of spine, vascular, heart, chest, neurology, ophthalmology, and stroke, el-Sobky explained, saying that the development comes within the framework of the EHA’s continuous endeavours to provide advanced and comprehensive medical services to the people of Suez and the Canal region.

The Suez Medical Complex is the first of its kind in the Canal governorates, as it was built on a total area of 35,000 square meters, with total costs of LE3 billion.

The project offers a qualitative leap in healthcare services in the region, seeking to improve the quality of services, and meet the health needs of citizens in a highly efficient manner, he said.

The complex has a capacity of 427 beds, including 109 intensive care beds, 64 outpatient clinics, 70 dialysis machines, 16 operating rooms, and 54 nurseries, he said.

The universal project focuses on providing full medical protection for the entire family, and those who can afford the fees shall pay for this service. However, the public budget will cover the costs of the families that cannot afford paying.
