BEIRUT – An Egyptian plane touched down at Rafic Hariri International Airport Wednesday carrying 22 tons of medical, food and relief aid to Lebanon.
Egyptian Ambassador in Beirut Alaa Moussa told Al Qahera News that Egypt supports Lebanon at the humanitarian and political levels.
This is the fifth such flight and it comes as part of an Egyptian airlift to deliver aid to Lebanon, Moussa noted.
He added that Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty arrived in the Lebanese capital on the same plane on a visit to affirm Egypt’s support for Lebanon and the implementation of resolution 1701.
Lebanese Environment Minister Nasser Yassin greatly appreciated Egypt’s political stance in support of a ceasefire in Lebanon.
He praised long-standing relations between the two Arab countries.
According to Yassin, the Egyptian top diplomat’s arrival in Beirut is meant to stress the importance of ending the aggression on Lebanon and reaching a ceasefire.
He thanked Egypt for the relief aid it sends to Lebanon.
