Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has attended the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), held at the Al-Manara International Conference Center.
The opening event of the forum is attended by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Chairman of the Transitional Leadership Council of the Republic of Sudan Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen Rashad Mohammed Al Alimi, and UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Organization Anna Claudia Rosbach.
The forum is attended by high-level international and UN delegations, to draw the world’s attention to Egypt and its modern development experience, and to discuss the issue of global urbanization and finding solutions to the global housing crisis.
The WUF is set to feature nearly 600 events focused on localizing the sustainable development goals, particularly in addressing the global housing crisis, rising costs of living, and climate emergencies.
These events include high-level dialogues tackling a wide range of topics in addition to a ministerial roundtable that will be held to discuss multi-level governance to accelerate the implementation of the New Cities Agenda and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Other global agendas, and the launch of the groundbreaking World Cities Report 2024 on Cities and Climate will also be addressed.
