In a significant meeting held in Cairo on Saturday, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed el Tayyeb, lauded the efforts of the UAE Ministry of Tolerance, headed by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, in fostering a culture of brotherhood and human coexistence.
During their discussions, Tayyeb emphasized the critical need for such initiatives in today’s world, which is increasingly challenged by divisions and discord. He expressed pride in Al-Azhar’s longstanding scientific, cultural, and religious ties with the United Arab Emirates, recognizing the nation’s pivotal role in advancing dialogue and understanding among diverse communities.
Sheikh Nahyan reciprocated by acknowledging the Grand Imam’s invaluable contributions to promoting values of tolerance and brotherhood. He highlighted Tayyeb’s influential role as a global symbol of tolerance, particularly in efforts to dispel misconceptions about Islam and to encourage a spirit of positive engagement and openness towards others.
This exchange underscores a shared commitment to enhancing human connections and fostering peace in a world that greatly needs it.
