CAIRO – Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang said Egypt-China relations have witnessed a golden decade of development in the past 10 years under the leadership of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Liao made the remarks during a ceremony held for Egyptian students in China. The ceremony coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership while 2024 has been declared China-Egypt Year of Partnership.
The past decade has made fruitful achievements, the ambassador said, noting that the Chinese side has engaged in several economic projects in Egypt, while many Egyptian researchers graduated from Chinese universities have made a lot of contributions to the economic and social development in their homeland.
Many Egyptian youths aspire to get acquainted with the Chinese technology and culture via learning the Chinese language, Liao said, pointing out that Chinese has been taught as an optional second language at Egyptian schools since 2022.
He added that 30 Egyptian universities have Chinese departments.
