CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister and Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar asserted the importance of the exchange of expertise between Egypt and Cyprus to boost healthcare services and improve public health, underlining the need to expand in signing joint partnership deals and cooperation protocols in different health spheres.
This came during Abdel Ghaffar’s meeting with Cypriot Health Minister Michael Damianos and his accompanying delegation to discuss means of boosting co-operation as part of the activities of the 2nd Global Congress on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC24) held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi under the rubric “Human development for a sustainable future”.
Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the minister expressed Egypt’s keenness on promoting cooperation between both countries in various health domains, with the aim of improving health services presented to citizens and contributing to achieving the goals of human development and community welfare.
The meeting tackled means to share expertise in a number of health fields, the spokesman said, adding that the minister reviewed the success accomplished by Egypt in the first stage of the comprehensive health insurance system in addition to the continuous accomplishments of the General Authority for Health Insurance which covers over 69 million citizens.
The minister asserted the importance of continuous upgrade of health services presented to the public, expressing his readiness to transfer the Egyptian experience in the field of health insurance to Cyprus, the spokesman said.
The meeting also took up means to support Cyprus by vaccines, medicines and necessary medical equipment, the spokesman said.
The meeting tackled cooperation in fighting epidemics, in disease prevention and control and in training medical teams by offering them specialized programs held in line with global standards to contribute to upgrading the efficiency of the health sector and the quality of healthcare presented to citizens.
