President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Thursday reaffirmed Egypt’s stance calling for the prevention of the expansion of conflict and the necessity of stopping escalation, in order to prevent sliding into a full-scale regional war that risks serious repercussions on the security and capabilities of all countries and peoples in the region.

The president made the remarks while receiving visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in the presence of Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.

The meeting tackled the current regional developments, according to Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy,

President Sisi underscored the necessity of continuing and intensifying international efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire deal in Gaza and Lebanon, halting violations and aggression in the West Bank and ensuring an unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to end the exacerbating plight of civilians there.

Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign minister expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s ongoing efforts to achieve stability and security in the region, praising Egypt’s role in this regard on all tracks, the spokesman said.

Araqchi conveyed to President Sisi greetings and appreciation of his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, a gesture that was was valued and welcomed by President Sisi.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing the current path to explore prospects for further advancing relations between the two countries, the spokesman said.
