CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has reiterated Egypt’s rejection of Israel’s escalation policies, warning of hazardous repercussions for regional security and stability.

Abdelatty, in a telephone conversation with his newly appointed Japanese counterpart Takeshi Iwaya Wednesday, reviewed efforts exerted by his Ministry to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and release hostages and detainees.

Cairo categorically rejects the Israeli assault on Lebanon, the top diplomat stressed, noting that the escalation would further widen the regional conflict. He touched upon intensive contacts with all Lebanese parties and key world players to prevent a regional escalation.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf said the two top diplomats praised relations between their countries.

Abdelatty told Iwaya Egypt very much appreciates Japan’s contribution to a number of development projects, atop of which the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), Khallaf added.

Abdelatty said Egypt is looking forward to a continued flow of Japanese investments, especially in the fields of green hydrogen and artificial intelligence, the spokesman noted.
