CAIRO – Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit headed on Tuesday to Türkiye on his maiden visit to the country since he assumed his post in 2016 at an invitation of the Turkish government.
In statements, AL Spokesman Gamal Roshdi said that Abul Gheit is scheduled to have discussions with the Turkish side on the raging situation in the region, topped by the Palestinian issue.
The spokesman added that the two sides will discuss a number of political issues, including boosting bilateral coordination and cooperation, taking into account Turkey’s role and activity on the international scene, and the distinguished ties between the two sides in many fields, and Turkey’s positive stance towards the Palestinian issue.
Abul Gheit will participate in the opening of the 15th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum (TAF 2024), which will be held on Thursday in Istanbul, under the theme “Turkey and the Arab World: A Global Corridor for Investment, Trade, and Technology.”
