Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), Tareq el-Houby, held several meetings with Iraqi officials to discuss ways to enhance co-operation between the two countries in the field of food safety.
He met with Fayyad Mohamed, head of the Central Organisation for Standardisation and Quality Control in Iraq, and addressed the Egyptian experience in the field of food safety, risk assessment, and analysis systems.
Also, they discussed enhancing communication regarding food safety standards and regulations.
The two sides highlighted aspects of co-operation in the field of training the company’s cadres on monitoring and tracking methods for supply chains and production processes.
These meetings have stressed the NFSA’s keenness to follow up and activate mechanisms with counterparts at the regional level in various fields related to food safety.
In addition, el-Houby has participated in the opening ceremony of the Iraq Food & Beverage Expo in Baghdad from 1 to 3 October 2024 with the participation of more than 35 Egyptian companies.
