The sixth edition of the Arab Water Forum (AWF) kicked off on Monday in Abu Dhabi to discuss pressing regional topics related to water, with a focus on finding sustainable solutions for future generations.
Water challenges that we are facing nowadays are immense, yet they are not insurmountable and can be overcome through determination, creativity and commitment to cooperation, said Arab Water Council President Mahmoud Abu- Zeid while addressing the inaugural session of the forum.
Co-organized by the Arab Water Council, the Arab league and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the event is attended by 15 ministers, 1,400 deputies and experts alongside 230 speakers in the sectors on water and utilities .
This edition will feature an international exhibition and over 17 technical sessions, with keynotes, panels, and case studies focusing on policies, strategies, and solutions for achieving water security in the Arab region.
Notable speakers of the forum include Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, the president of the Arab Water Council, Hani Sewilam, Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Aun Dheyab Abdulla, Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources, and Ahmed Abul Gheit, the secretary-general of the AL.
The Forum will also explore topics such as transboundary water management, climate change, water security, and the water-energy-food-ecosystems nexus.
More than 60 global exhibitors will showcase cutting-edge technologies and projects in desalination, storage, distribution, wastewater treatment, and water conservation.
