Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny held talks on Sunday with a delegation of officials from China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd., affiliated to China Energy, which specialises in building, construction and infrastructure projects worldwide.
The talks came within the framework of providing the vision and proposal by the Chinese company on the possibility of co-operation with the Egyptian side, offering a presentation on their part regarding a project to design and establish a logistics cargo city at the Cairo International Airport.
The move aims to enhance Egypt’s pivotal status and developing it into a logistics hub at the regional and international levels, to meet the rising demand on air freight services, and bolsters the country’s role connecting the world’s continents.
During the meeting, the minister of civil aviation was briefed on the company’s vision and proposals on possible co-operation with the civil aviation sector. He also commended the close and distinguished relations binding the two nations. He urged further work to support and consolidate the economic relations in all fields.
Certain aspects and dimensions will be studied and discussed with the Egyptian work team on charge of coordination in this regard, to lay major foundations for achieving the aspired benefits, and enhancing the capabilities of the Egyptian civil aviation sector in the field of air freight. In this way, Egypt will become Africa’s top gateway to global trade movement.
For their part, the Gezhouba Group delegation expressed their appreciation for the ministry’s efforts to develop the civil aviation sector.
They also voiced the company’s aspiration to support partnerships and promising opportunities with the ministry, mainly in infrastructure construction and development projects of the Egyptian airport system.
He stressed the company’s keenness on contributing to bolstering bilateral co-operation frameworks in line with the sustainable development goals adopted by state at all levels.
